Prompted by the growth of its collections and increased activity, the Museum of Polo is expanding, adding space and facilities for exhibits, meetings and storage.

Since its founding, the Museum of Polo has been a central meeting spot for polo, hosting many events during the winter polo season in Florida, anchored by the annual induction ceremony for the Hall of Fame, Iglehart and Horses to Remember awards. The Museum also hosts press conferences, lectures, USPA meetings, parties and other special events.

The Museum’s collections include some of the most significant polo trophies, artwork, artifacts and media from the 20th century, but the space to exhibit these items and storage for new materials has been stretched to capacity.

In 2012 and 2013, the Museum undertook a campaign to raise the funds needed for expansion, and in 2014 planning and ground-clearing began. The project, slated for completion in early Fall, 2015, will expand exhibit space by 67% and include a new library, more gallery space, archival storage and a new 75-seat meeting area for lectures and special events.

Cregg, Chairman of the Museum of Polo, notes, “We are fortunate to have the only museum for polo in the world, with a spectacular collections of artifacts and information on the history and traditions of the sport. The support and donations from the polo community will help us expand the galleries and show more of the collections, underscoring that this is the place to learn about polo.”
